Closing Report The 2nd AMRChina 2008 International Symposium & World Class AMR Product Display, organized by GSL Consulting China, was successfully ended on October 23, 2008 at Furama Hotel Dalian, China.
Overview of AMRChina 2008 International Symposium
AMRChina 2008 International Symposium, taking place on October 21-23, took a deeply look at the advanced technical know-how about AMR related system development, industry policies, AMR-related standards and protocols, core utilities’ deployments and strategies, AMR case studies and system solutions shaping future AMR (Automatic Metering Reading) market for Chinese power, water industries.

- The international Symposium covered 10 sessions, including pre-AMRChina Seminar, keynote session, innovation showcase and three parallel sessions respectively about electricity, water and gas industry.
- Speeches: total 45 speakers from both China and international AMR market brought informative presentations, among of whom 18 speakers were from Chinese utilities, regulators and technical authorities.
- The world-class AMR System Product Display: total 32 Sponsors and Exhibitors from China & international exhibited their latest AMR-related products , services, technologies and solutions with regard to power, water and gas metering industries.
- Site visits to Dalian Power Company and Dalian Water Supply Company provided the total 40 visitors with the practical familiarization of the latest electricity and water testing/calibration technologies and operation experience in China utility metering centers. Meanwhile the face to face meetings with the top managers and experts gave a better understanding of Chinese meter test procedure in city level power and water utilities.

| Summary |
Under the environment of macro economy crisis and shortage of energy worldwide, Chinese electricity, water and gas utilities as well as Chinese large consumers started to attach great importance to the application of automated meter reading technologies. Both Chinese and International AMR system leading suppliers have been aware that this will be a great opportunity in the Chinese market and have taken various marketing or cooperative activities. Especially the State Power Grid Corp of China has decided in October 2008 to deploy AMR system in the coming three years. This decision will bring great impact to the future of Chinese metering industry and meanwhile it will offer a huge potential to the international suppliers who have quality and matured AMR system related products.
AMRChina 2008 in Dalian, the three-day symposium has brought updated and valuable AMR industry information and knowledge from the speakers and exhibitors, from both China and international, both utilities and vendors to all participants. I believe that this event will surely help the participants better understand what is happening in the Chinese AMR market and go back to develop own market strategies.
