Time difference:
Beijing Time is the only time throughout China although there is about two-hour difference from the eastern to the western. The business hour is from 9:00 AM to 17:00 PM including one hour for lunch from 12:00 AM to 13:00 PM. For some shopping place, its business time will last to 22:00 PM in these cities or even in business all day and all night for some small restaurants and stores.
Transportation:
There are different taxies fees in different cities in China. When traveling in Beijing, you can take taxies with a charge of RMB2 per kilometer. Please note that you should walk/drive along the right-hand side of the road, which is different from that of western. As the large population in cities, the traffic may be a little crowded especially at the rush hour in morning or afternoon.
Electricity power:
The voltage of the power supply is 220V/50Hz. So if you want to use your laptop or other electronic devices, you should make sure the voltage matching with the need of your devices, otherwise you need an adapter to transform the voltage.
Customs:
Passers may be checked randomly for valuables never declared by its holder before. So you should declare the cash if it is more than USD5,000 and you cannot take out currencies more than that you declared when you go abroad. As an universal term, things like meat, animals, plants, fruits or seeds cannot be taken into China, otherwise it may be expropriated. Other things like radios, recorders or personal electronic products, you can take one but you must declare it when transferring through customs. You can take some alcohol or wine with you under the capacity limitation of 500ml.
